As you may have noticed, some of our most popular scents are being discontinued, but for good reason. And we'd love to tell you why.
We've always been committed to using the cleanest fragrance oils on the market. This year, our fragrance oil supplier raised the bar even further and we're not waiting to make the switch! That's always been The Vidas Standard: use the best ingredients available, no matter what.
We're slowly retiring our existing scents so we can introduce new ones that meet this upgraded standard. But great news: we've been working on this for a while, and two Vidas Standard scents have already launched: Farmers Market and On the Lake.
What makes these oils different?
ALL of our fragrances have always met these standards:
- Free of phthalates
- Free of all ingredients on the Prop 65 list
- Meet IFRA safety standards
And now, they'll meet even more:

What does these words actually mean?
Phthalates
Synthetic chemicals commonly used to make fragrances last longer, linked to hormone disruption. Vidas has never used them.
California Prop 65 List
A list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm, maintained by the state of California. The fragrance oils we use are formulated to avoid chemicals on the list.
IFRA
The International Fragrance Association, the global authority for fragrance safety standards. Their guidelines set the baseline for what's considered safe in fragrance formulation.
Organ toxins
Ingredients that can cause damage to specific organs; like the liver, kidney, or lungs with repeated exposure.
Acute toxins
Substances that can cause harm from a single or short-term exposure, even in small amounts.
Carcinogens
Substances that have been shown to cause or contribute to the development of cancer with repeated exposure or prolonged exposure.
Mutagens
Substances that can alter or damage DNA, potentially affecting cell function and increasing the risk of disease over time.
Reproductive toxins
Substances that can interfere with fertility, fetal development, or hormonal function. These can be harmful to both those who are pregnant and those who may become pregnant.
What does this mean for you?
The same quality you've always loved, but now even better.
What you burn in your home matters. The scents you fill your space with, the air you breathe, the products you trust around your family. We've never taken that lightly. Our commitment to bringing you the cleanest candles possible will never change.
No price increases.
The Vidas Standard is just that, our standard. It's not a "premium" line. It is one of our founding commitments to you. We use the best supplies on the market. Better ingredients doesn't mean we need more from you. Better ingredients available means we meet the standard. It's not an upgrade you pay for. It's who we are at the core of our business.
How we'll keep you in the loop
We've been working on this transition behind the scenes since February, so it's already well underway. Here's the general timeline moving forward:
- February: 4 scents retired
- May: 4 scent retired
- July: 2 scents phasing out
- November-December: Remaining scents phase out as they sell through
We know you want to know about your favorites before they're gone, and we're committed to giving you as much notice as possible! Because inventory drives the exact timing, we're keeping everyone updated through email at least once a month. That's where you'll get the earliest notice, first access to final restocks, and first looks at what's coming next. Make sure you're subscribed so you're the first to know.
A note from Chanda
I know this might feel like a lot of change at once, and I don't take discontinuing your favorite scents lightly. But, using the best ingredients has always been more important to me than holding onto something just because it sells. That commitment is at the core of everything Vidas stands for, and it always will be.
I'll be spending the rest of this year developing new scents that meet this standard without losing the depth and quality you've come to expect. Every new blend will be something I'm genuinely proud to put the Vidas name on.
This is us putting our money where our values are. I'm so excited for what's coming, and I hope you are too.
